GALWAY skipper Sean Kelly has his eyes firmly fixed on a first League title in an astonishing 42 years.

The Tribe's last League crown came back in 1981, and they've only won four in their entire history, with the others coming in 1940, 1957 and 1965.

Now they have a real chance to end over four decades without a Division 1 crown title when they face Mayo at Croke Park next Sunday.

Kelly, who turns 26 next month, said: "We are just looking forward to the League final now and hopefully winning silverware for Galway.

"Padraic Joyce said it from the start. It's a long time for a county like Galway.

"We were a bit disappointed obviously with the All-Ireland last year. But we always knew and believed and felt going in that day that we could have won and should have won maybe."
