Food shortage fears as Vlad axes exports deal

Ukraine grain strain

RUSSIA has halted a deal allowing Ukraine to export grain, sparking fears of global food shortages.

The wartime agreement meant Ukraine could ship its produce to countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia where hunger is a growing threat.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia would not honour the deal until its demands to get its food and fertiliser to the world are met.
