CONSUMERS have been warned of a shortage of popular fruit and veg due to bad weather and disrupted supply lines.

Staples such as tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers as well as strawberries and raspberries are most at risk, according to retailers.

A significant proportion of what Ireland consumes comes from Spain and North Africa.
