The mechanics of its fantasy world don't hold water but gorgeous production design and big-hearted drama spark Pixar's new animated fantasy.
The setting is Element City, which is very much like Disney's Zootropolis, with the animals replaced by CGI humanoid blobs based on the four elements.
The film's smartest idea is to plonk all four on different rungs of the city's social ladder. The water people have the best jobs and the plushest gaffs in the highest high-rise apartments.
