Russia's warning to West of 'colossal risks' over F-16 jets as Zelensky visits G7 summit

RUSSIA last night warned that any Western countries supplying Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets would be taking a "colossal risk".

As world leaders gathered in Japan to discuss supplying the planes, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said it was proof that "Western countries are still adhering to the escalation scenario".

America has agreed to train up Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets - a move hailed as "historic" by the country's president, Volodymyr Zelensky.

He said: "This will greatly enhance our army in the sky. I count on discussing the practical implications of this decision at the G7 summit in Hiroshima.
