The Lilywhites failed to overturn a 3-1 first-leg deficit to Icelandic outfit KA, drawing 2-2 in Thursday’s second leg at Oriel Park.

But, with €550,000 in the bank after knocking out Bruno’s Magpies in the first round, it was still a worthwhile venture.

That cash boost allowed Dundalk to seal deals for the returning Daryl Horgan and Sam Durrant from Sheffield Wednesday.
