RESIDENTS of a Salford suburb have hit back at a plague which has been making their lives a misery 'for years.
Selfish drivers who ignore parking restrictions in Walkden are making it difficult for passengers to safely use public transport, campaigners say. A Facebook group, set up to share images of the parked cars in bus stops on High Street, amassed more than 100 members in less than 24 hours.
Admin of Friends of Walkden Bus Stop Elaine Walker, 64, has been vocal about the issues. She told the M.E.N: "A lot of people are annoyed about it, especially the disabled community.
"The buses have to stop in the middle of the road, and people with disabilities are not able to get off at the stop.
"They're stranded in the middle of the road where it isn't safe. No one seems to be doing anything to make this problem go away," she went on to add: "It should be sorted now. For me, it is an accident waiting to happen."
