Molly Partington, from Bury, was just 18 when she died on August 17 last year after leaving Stubble Bank care home alone for a walk and falling from a bridge, an inquest into her death heard.

The 18-year-old had moved from Cygnet Hospital Bury to Stubble Bank, a care home and specialist residential mental health service, in March of that year as part of a "step down" from the hospital with the aim of preparing her to move back home.

Molly, who suffered with dissociation and PTSD, had been living at mental health units since 2018 following an overdose, the first day of a two-week inquest at Rochdale Coroner's Court heard. The day before her death Molly was taken to hospital by police for a wound thought to be self-inflicted, after initially "refusing" to go. She was not accompanied by any staff from the care home, the inquest was told.
