Shock after remains of baby found

HORRIFIED neighbours have spoken of their shock after the remains of a baby were uncovered at a house.

Five people – aged between 20 and 70 – have been arrested on suspicion of concealing a death, and unlawful burial.

They have all since been bailed. Investigations are under way following the grim find in the wake of a call police received from “a partner agency”.

Forensics officers have been working at the scene for several days following the “heartbreaking” discovery.

People living near to the house in Marsh Green, Wigan, described the news as “horrible”.

One person said yesterday: “I’ve lived here seven years and I’ve never seen anything like this happen.

Another said: “Of all the places for this to happen, you don’t expect it right on your doorstep.”
