Last month, developers Forshaw applied to demolish the existing Riverside Retail Park, which contains McDonald’s and KFC restaurants, plus a Grosvenor Casino, on Regent Road.
Once those buildings were razed, the plan was to build four tower blocks, from nine to 25 storeys tall.
They would sit opposite a new ‘neighbourhood’ to be built on the existing Regent Road Retail Park containing the third-tallest-tower in the UK, where Sainsbury’s is now.
However, Salford council has stopped the demolition going ahead over how a footpath near to the casino would be affected.
