Was it a rat, an otter or a beaver? I came to the conclusion that it was a beaver, as I had been talking about this wonderful mammal at our Supporters' Day on Saturday.
Beavers are Nature's engineers, changing landscapes and creating wetlands, which brings in more wildlife to these areas.
They had been missing from the British landscape for more than 400 years, but recent reintroductions in Devon, Derbyshire and Cheshire have been hugely successful.
Our ancestors hunted them to extinction in the 16th Century, for fur, meat and the oil in their scent glands.
That oil, extracted from their rear ends, was used in medicine and perfumes. I struggle to imagine people telling me that the scent they are wearing is from a beaver's bum.
