De Ligt is monster on pitch, says Maz
Manchester Evening News|August 17, 2024
UNITED new boy Noussair Mazraoui has described centre-back Matthijs de Ligt as a 'monster' on the pitch after the pair joined from Bayern Munich on the same day.

Mazraoui and De Ligt will now add the Reds to a joint CV that includes time together at Ajax and Bayern and the fullback accounted for €15m of a joint €60m outlay to sign the pair.

Although Mazraoui, who made his United debut against Fulham last night, represents Morocco and De Ligt the Netherlands, they were born in the same Dutch town and their relationship has endured from Amsterdam to Manchester, via Munich.

They played right-back and right-sided centre-back at Ajax and at times for Bayern, with a brief break when De Ligt spent three seasons at Juventus.

That is an on-pitch relationship that could be rekindled at Old Trafford and Mazraoui, who can play left-back as well, has revealed the difference between his partner once the whistle blows.
