Deputy PM to investigate grandad's £6k migrant fine

THE Deputy Prime Minister is looking 'urgently' into the case of a retired ambulance service worker told by the Home Office he's being fined £6,000 after a migrant stowed inside his camping trailer in France without his knowledge in a failed bid to illegally enter the UK.

Angela Rayner MP has issued a statement after the M.E.N. revealed the plight of great-grandfather Peter Hughes, 75.

Mr Hughes and his wife Anne, 78, a retired carer, were returning to the UK after a camping holiday when the young Sudanese man was found by French border force officers hiding inside the small trailer attached to their converted motorhome at the Port of Calais in May.
