A WOMAN who died after running into the street on fire had previously taken an overdose after her husband threatened ‘to divorce her’ and told her to ‘kill herself’, an inquest has heard.
Nosheen Akhtar, 31, died after suffering horrific burns in an incident at her home in East Street, Bury, on July 23, 2021.
An inquest at Rochdale Coroners Court heard that Ms Akhtar told paramedics who treated her at the scene that ‘her husband threw liquid on her’ before ‘setting her on fire’.
Ms Akhtar, who grew up in Pakistan, had previously confided in family and health professionals about problems in her marriage.
The inquest heard about an incident in February 2021 – five months before Ms Akhtar’s death – when she was taken to hospital after an overdose.
