NIECE'S PLEA FOR KNIFEMAN STILL IN JAIL AFTER 18 YEARS IN LEGAL LIMBO
JOHN SCHEERHOUT
'He wants to see his parents before it's too late'

THE family of a prisoner who has spent 18 years behind bars, despite being told he could apply for release after three-and-a-half years, has pleaded for his release so he can see his elderly parents before they die.

Neil Hore was 25 when he was among the first offenders to be handed an Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) sentence in 2006, for what was described as a “frenzied and ruthless” 3am knife attack on a man outside a nightclub in Wigan.

The judge who sent him down told him he could apply for parole after three and a half years.
