THERE will be an increased police presence in the city centre during this weekend's Manchester Pride festival in order to provide 'reassurance' Greater Manchester Police (GMP) chiefs say.
Thousands are set to pour into the city centre for this year's edition of Pride, one of the biggest LGBTQ+ celebrations in the country.
This year's Gay Village Party will be headlined by the likes of Rita Ora, Sugababes and Loreen. Jessie J and Keala Settle were due to headline last night.
Yesterday, one of GMP's senior officers says they are 'well-rehearsed' in policing large scale events such as festivals and that extra officers will be on patrol in and around the festival site in case of any issues.
