Rapper Aitch refuses to mind his Ps and Qs

RAPPER Aitch has said he has always tried to ensure he represented his Manchester roots even when getting national success on the music scene.

The 24-year-old Moston musician took to the stage for a keynote session with Apple Music's Dotty to mark the opening of the Beyond the Music conference and festival, which is taking place across the city this week.

Appearing at the opening event at Aviva Studios on Wednesday night, Aitch, real name Harrison Armstrong, spoke about breaking out into the music industry and how he felt that Manchester's unique spirit helped him become the success he is today.

"I always wanted to sound like where I came from," he told Dotty during the event. "I never wanted that to change."

Aitch first made a name for himself at the end of 2017 following the release of freestyle rap Straight Rhymez. The track garnered national attention, getting picked up on leading blogs and channels within the rap scene.

He's since gone on to collaborate with big artists, including AJ Tracey, Toddla T, D-Block Europe, Anne-Marie and Ed Sheeran, and even headlined the main stage at Parklife last year.
