FORMER ARMY PILOT WHO LOST LEG IN SERVICE IS NOW FLYING HOLIDAYMAKERS AROUND THE GLOBE

FROM a very young age, all Louis Farrell wanted to do was fly aeroplanes.

A 'working-class' kid from Bolton, he managed to achieve his dream when he became a pilot in the military.

However, that ended when he lost a leg after it became trapped while serving in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 2013.

"Something that my grandparents taught me was about serving my country before I take from it," he told the M.E.N.

"I didn't really want to go college. I joined the Army when I was 16, it was the only one of the three services that took non-commissioned pilots and I served in the Army for 13 years.

"Then I got injured while on operation which resulted in me losing my leg." After multiple surgeries, Louis left the Army but didn't lose his desire to take to the skies. He was resigned to flying small planes until he was introduced to a veterans charity called Wings for Warriors.

They were able to connect Louis with major budget airline company TUI, who trained Louis up to be a commercial pilot.
