THREE teenagers chased a boy 'in a tight pack' after an altercation in Moss Side before he was fatally stabbed, prosecutors allege.

The 16-year-olds, who cannot be identified because of their ages, are each charged with the murder of 17-year-old Prince Walker-Ayeni who died in April this year after an incident on Raby Street.

Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard that Prince suffered three wounds, two to his leg and one to his chest after he was 'pursued' by the boys.

The defendants deny an offence of murder, and an alternate offence of manslaughter and are on trial.

Michael Hayton KC, prosecuting said that the two groups, one made up of the three defendants and the other made up of Prince and a friend, met on the road in a 'casual, coincident meeting' on April 4 at around 4pm.

"There is no suggesting this was a pre-planned meeting," he added.

Prince and his friend were on bicycles, as were two of the group of three, the court heard.

"When the two groups came into close proximity, it appears there was tension when they spoke and very quickly violence broke out," Mr Hayton said. "Prince Walker plays his part in this violence, throwing punches at Boy 1 at least.

"However, the violence does not end with an exchange of blows, Prince Walker runs away from the conflict.
