TRIBUTES have poured in following the death of a legendary Manchester restaurateur.
Gary Newborough passed away at his home in Ancoats on November 26. The 69-year-old was best known for the Northern Quarter institution The Market Restaurant, which he owned for 34 years.
After The Market's closure in 2015, Gary continued to be active in Manchester's food and drink scene, running blogs and consulting, as well as starting up wine clubs and masterclasses.
Speaking to dining guide Sugarvine.com following the closure of The Market, Gary reflected on the changing restaurant scene in Manchester. He said:
