A MAN caught swapping shoes with an inmate during a visit to jail has been jailed after officers found packages of drugs hidden under the soles.

Shakil Patel, 39, was seen looking 'nervous' by guards Buckley Hall prison in Rochdale.

He was monitored while talking to an unnamed prisoner, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

When they swapped shoes, they were caught 'red-handed. Packaged heroin and cocaine were found under the soles of the footwear.

Patel pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He was jailed for more than five and a half years as he is a 'third-strike' offender.
