THE family of a 72-year-old woman who says she no longer feels safe in her home say they are 'disgusted' after being told to consider moving her into a 'care home?
Linda Chester says she is too scared to keep her windows open at her one-bedroom house in Salford following a number of shocking incidents.
The great-grandmother, who has COPD and stage two dementia, has also battled a damp problem, which she says causes a 'stink!
Her loved ones want to move her to a two-bedroom property, with space for a relative who cares for her, where she can feel safe - in what is known as a 'managed move!
Housing group Great Places insists it doesn't have enough properties to meet the request.
"I just want a place where I can be comfy and safe," Linda told the M.E.N.
"That's all I want, somewhere I can be safe in my own home. I've had all my independence all these years and they're not taking it off me - no way." Linda's family says she moved into her home on Myrtle Leaf Grove, Weaste, in 2020 and problems began the following year.
Damp affecting her bathroom causes a smell so pungent, it has put Linda off using her bath and shower, preferring to wash in the sink instead.
Mould has also affected her bathroom and bedroom, with the issue a source of concern for Linda's family, who say she uses a ventilator to help her breathe in the morning.
Great Places says a mould wash took place on August 2, but some signs of visible mould have begun to reappear in the property.
