Kieran Scollins was riding on the bike with a friend when it collided with a car in Edge Lane, Droylsden.
The 23-year-old forklift truck driver, from Clayton, suffered 'catastrophic' head injuries after being thrown from the bike. He died in hospital the next day.
An inquest at Manchester South Coroners Court heard that Kieran and his pal, Matthew Irlam, were travelling together on the Yamaha motorbike as it sped along Edge Lane in the early hours of August 7, 2021.
Police have been unable to establish which of the two men was driving the bike. CCTV footage showed the main rider wearing a helmet while the pillion passenger was not.
Sgt Edward Lister, a senior forensic collision investigator at Greater Manchester Police, told the inquest that the road had a speed limit of 30mph. However, the motorbike was travelling at 53mph as it went through a set of traffic lights at the junction with North Road.
A Volkswagen Polo was driving in the opposite direction along Edge Lane at 24mph. The driver broke before turning right, crossing the path of the oncoming motorbike.
The bike rider attempted to avoid the crash but clipped the rear passenger side of the car. The impact caused both men to be thrown from the bike, hitting the car before landing in the road.
