
PUPILS across Greater Manchester were largely optimistic after yesterday's GCSE results.
They came after children sat exams earlier this summer for the first time in two years.
Across the country, pass grades have fallen since 2021 but are overall said still to be higher than pre-pandemic rates.
However, the re was a marked north-south divide, with 32.6% of papers from London being marked at grade 7 and above, compared to just 22.4% in north-east England and in Yorkshire and the Humber.
