PICTURES have revealed the ambitious plans for the iconic Stockport Pyramid, which is set to be transformed into a luxurious dining experience! Jokingly dubbed 'the eighth wonder of the world; planning permission has been granted to remodel the huge building, which has been abandoned since 2018.
Stockport council had previously backed the plans to breathe life into the structure; transforming the town's iconic pyramid building beside the M60 into a buffet restaurant and banquet halls.
The plans were also supported by Stockport MP Navendu Mishra, who wrote to the council to say it is an 'iconic and well-known structure on the Stockport landscape, and it is a detriment that it has been vacant for several years! Award-winning restaurant chain the Royal Nawaab submitted plans last year to transform the pyramid into the restaurant, with space for 1,500 diners and 150 staff, as well as space to host events such as large weddings. Bosses say the restaurant would create new jobs in the town and be a huge boost to the local economy.
