TOM Hartley may be England cricket's latest Test hero, but he will still be expected to muck-in with the family business when he returns from India.
The Lancashire spinner produced a stunning display on his debut in Hyderabad, taking seven wickets in the second innings to fire Ben Stokes' side to an unforgettable 28-run win in the first Test.
Just two months ago the 24-year-old, who has only played 21 first-class games, was helping out at the garden centre his family own in Lydiate, Merseyside.
And Hartley admits the fame he has had over the last few days will not stop him having to get his hands dirty when he gets back to England.
"It will be coming up to bedding plant season when I get back," Hartley told M.E.N. Sport from the England hotel in India ahead of the second Test.
"I will have a bit of time off when I get back before rejoining Lancashire but I struggle to sit still all day and like helping my dad out so that's what I will be doing.
"My family have supported me so much. My mum has washed so many of my dirty whites over the years, my dad has taken me to a lot of training sessions, they have had a massive part to play on this and supported me the whole way. So to put a smile on their face and get a few more people into the garden centre - is fantastic really."
