NEW DELHI: Ruling parties in most of the 13 states consolidated their positions in the Assembly bypolls, with results declared on Saturday showing the BJP and its allies as the biggest gainers. Out of the 46 contested seats, the BJP-led alliance won 26, a gain of nine seats, while the Congress managed seven, losing six compared to its earlier tally. The Trinamool Congress retained its stronghold in West Bengal with six seats, followed by the Aam Aadmi Party, which won three, and the Samajwadi Party with two. Other parties, including the Left Democratic Front in Kerala and the Bharat Adivasi Party in Rajasthan, won one seat each. In Sikkim, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha candidates won two seats unopposed.
