Tree felling in Delhi's Ridge: AAP accuses L-G, DDA of lying in SC

NEW DELHI: In a dramatic revelation, Delhi's Urban Development Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj, has accused the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Vinai Saxena of deliberately misleading the public and the courts regarding the illegal felling of trees in the Satbari Wildlife Area.

Minister Bharadwaj stated that 1,670 trees were illegally cut, a figure far higher than the 642 trees previously reported by the DDA and the L-G.

Speaking at a press conference, Bharadwaj criticised the efforts to cover up the incident, accusing the DDA and L-G of lying about the extent of the deforestation. "L-G and DDA have been blatantly lying about the number of trees cut; it was not 642, it was 1,670," he said.
