NEW DELHI: Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the former Union Home Secretary, was appointed as the governor of Manipur on Tuesday. The state has been grappling with ongoing ethnic conflicts between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities since May of the previous year.
Former Army chief Vijay Kumar Singh, who also served as a minister in the Modi government during its last two terms, has been appointed as the new governor of Mizoram.
Meanwhile, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has been reassigned to Bihar ahead of the upcoming state Assembly elections next year.
