There are still at least 100 Philadelphia public schools that have no air conditioning, so the first week back to school for the students enrolled in those old, out-of-date buildings was a bust.
Our youth should be at the top of our priority list, but we can’t seem to even get them air conditioning. Come on!
The violence is off the chain in our city. There are still way too many people walking around who have no health care insurance; and who, therefore, don’t go seek out medical care even when they’re sick. A lot of people have yet to recover from the ravishes of the pandemic, and still people who are being diagnosed positive with Covid, for the first, second, or third time around, in our town.
The cost of living keeps increasing, but paychecks are stuck, in many cases with no raises in sight. Small business owners are still seeking help, but if your business doesn’t have a perfect record with all your paperwork, taxes, etc., in order, forget about it. You are on your own.
What can possibly happen to start to make things better?
Maybe it’s going to take a new Mayor, a new City Council, and some new fresh ideas, programs, and legislation that will make a positive difference.
Having said that, the list of candidates who it appears are prepared to toss their hats in the ring for the City’s top job is growing.

Why did Joe Biden not keep his promise? His son still deserves justice
Just once. Just once, amid all the times that reporters asked President Joe Biden whether he would give a pardon to his son Hunter, who was facing a possible federal prison sentence, I wish I could have heard Jolly Joe give the sort of response that the late Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley offered to such unwelcome questions.
