THE first journalist to uncover the Post Office IT scandal claims that the role of the sub post masters’ union needs to be investigated – and could even be probed by the police.
Nick Wallis’s work led to an early TV investigation, and he fronted three Panorama shows.
The BBC documentaries led to Wallis becoming a consultant for the ITV drama series Mr Bates vs The Post Office, which triggered national outrage when it aired earlier this month.
And he claims the National Federation of Subpostmasters let down its members by backing the postal service.
He also alleges that the union did not want to see the Horizon IT system exposed as faulty because it would lose work for post offices.
