Renault Nissan Automotive India (RNAIPL) will invest over Rs 1.4 crore under its ‘Learning for Progress’ initiative,‘Karpom Munneruvom’ to upgrade infrastructure at eight schools in and around Oragadam as part of its corporate social responsibility commitments for the 2023-24 financial year.

Between July and December 2023, RNAIPL will build classrooms and restrooms, and set up RO plants for drinking water, CCTV cameras and inverters for uninterrupted power supply in line with its support of the Tamil Nadu Education Department’s ‘Namma School’ initiative, which is working to enhance state public school infrastructure. The school programme aims to nurture better learning outcomes and pave the path to local skill development.

The company’s infrastructure upgrade projects will cover a total of eight schools in Orathur, Nattarasampattu, Gunduperumpedu, Vadakkupattu, Umayalparenenchery and Walajabad. “At Nissan, we believe in the transformative power of education in overcoming barriers and spurring economic growth,” says Toru Ihara, Nissan Global Chief HR Officer who attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the first two classrooms at the Government Higher Secondary School at Vadakkupattu village. Ihara believes the education initiatives will take ahead the company’s commitment to empower them to succeed. “It is, therefore, a privilege to support this initiative and contribute to the educational development of the local community,” Ihara added.
