Over 400 fall ill after Suspected contaminated water Incident at Noida Condominium
The Business Guardian|September 05, 2024
More than 400 residents of Supertech Ecovillage 2 in Greater Noida West, including several children, have fallen ill since Monday morning, reportedly after consuming contaminated water.

The affected individuals have experienced symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, with at least 10 children currently hospitalized, some in critical condition.

Residents of the 12-tower society, which houses approximately 3,500 people, suspect that recent cleaning of the society’s water tanks may have left harmful chemicals behind, leading to the widespread outbreak of illness. The situation prompted the local health department to intervene, setting up a medical camp on Monday evening after nearby pharmacies ran out of essential medicines.

Abhishek Singh, a resident of Tower C4, reported that his two-year-old son was admitted to the ICU at Yatharth Hospital after his condition deteriorated on Tuesday morning. “He was initially taken to the hospital with high fever and nausea, but soon after, he began having seizures and had to be moved to the ICU,” Singh said.
