Hawks spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha said the group was arrested on Tuesday after a proactive, multifaceted operation by authorities in response to complaints from Eikenhof community and surrounding areas about these facilities.
"The suspects, who are Zimbabwean nationals, face charges of illegal possession of unwrought precious metals, as well as violations of the Immigration Act and Environmental Act," Ramovha said.
He added the Hawks team, armed with a search warrant, raided the illegal facilities on Tuesday at about 10am.
