I have not been demoted, just moved, claims Dirks

With the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party's game of musical chairs continuing to play out, the party's KZN Legislature caucus leader Mervyn Dirks on Sunday denied that he has been demoted.

Pietermaritzburg-based Dirks will now serve as an MK party whip alongside the organisation's three other MPLS, who will form part of the organisation's KZN legislature whip structure.

Dirks, who on the eve of the general elections defected from the ANC to join MK, was in June announced as the party's KZN legislature caucus leader.

However, Dirks told The Witness that the party had merely reconfigured its KZN legislature leadership structure "to avoid creating confusion around the party's caucus positions".
