The October rose month honeymoon is over. Or so it feels during this in-between time when the roses are shooting and preparing for their next flush.
However, there are roses that are quick to flower and are already providing blooms to tide us over.
Many of these are new varieties of floribunda roses that are selected to resprout quickly, overgrowing the older clusters of blooms that are cut off just below such cluster.
The same applies to Colour-scape type roses such as the "Grannies", Profusions and Sunsations which have a spreading or arching growth habit and will easily re-spout from the highest part of an arching stem.
NOT SIMPLY PINK
One of the most profuse repeat flowering roses is "Not Simply Pink", and it makes a superb show in the garden as well as in containers.
This rose grows into a neat hip high bush and produces dense clusters of blooms on short, stiff stems.
The fully open blooms reveal golden stamens that attract the bees. The leaves are highly disease resistant.
