Joburg Water gets tough

As residents struggle with water shortages; Joburg Water tells the Saturday Citizen it is meeting the City of Joburg to discuss the introduction of a "level one water tariff".

It did not confirm how much this tariff would be, or how it would be charged, but Joburg Water's Logan Moonsamy said it would implement associated level 1 water tariffs from tomorrow.

The tariff will apply to those who use more than their daily allowed quota.

This comes amid supply issues that have left taps dry in parts of the city for several days.

Some residents have gone more than a week without water, but Joburg Water (JW) said normal service should resume in two or three days.
