From theory to practice: The rise of competency-based education in universities

It was alarming to know that almost 29.1% of graduates in India are jobless. While experts have always warned about the quality of Indian education that could lead to unemployable graduates, the facts are now staring in the face. Theory based education system has created individuals who might know the theories but will fail when it comes to applying this information. The world is moving at a fast pace and those who lag will be left far behind. Industry 5.0 doesn't just need a workforce that can do mechanical and repetitive jobs, but needs people who have hands on knowledge of the workings of the industry, and this is only possible when there is a balance between theoretical and practical education.

Over the years, educational institutions have moved towards competency based and skill-based education.
