Punjab and Haryana High Court allows Union government to take action against IIM Rohtak Director accused of concealing qualifications

The Punjab and Haryana High Court in the case of Dr. Dheeraj Sharma versus the Union of India and another, along with other cases, has lifted a bar on the Union government to take action against IIM Rohtak Director Dr. Dheeraj Sharma, who is accused of concealing that he did not have a first-class bachelor's degree, a necessary qualification for the post.

In 2022, the court stayed the action arising from the show-cause notice sent to him by the Union, observing that the petition challenging the same was pending.
The bench, headed by Justice Vinod S. Bhardwaj, stated that the respondent (the Union government) may pass a final order on the show-cause notice already served on the petitioner, Dr. Dheeraj Sharma, to which a reply has already been furnished after granting the petitioner an opportunity to be heard.
