According to Vishal Verma, Fitness director Vishal Verma, one of the oldest gym and fitness centre chains in Bhopal, a trend to take New Year fitness resolutions gives an increment of around 20pc of new admissions.The gym director told Free Press, 'Every year we bring up a special New Year plan and this year we are offering 30-40pc discounts to attract new customers, it motivates people to join the gym, mostly as a New Year resolution.' Around 4k people of 25 to 45 age group used to come to our three centres in the city, but only around 2k people come to the gym regularly, Verma said. Four out of five different gym owners in Bhopal echo this sentiment, noting that while the trend of New Year fitness resolutions persists, there has been a shift toward balancing fitness goals with busy work lives. 'People are more realistic about their gym commitments now,' a gym manager said.
