After evading law enforcement for 34 days, Bhupendrasinh Jhala, the primary accused in the ₹6000 crore BZ Group scam, was apprehended and remanded to seven-day police custody.
The scam, which has left scores of investors in financial ruin, involved promises of doubling returns through fraudulent schemes.
Jhala, a BJP leader, managed to elude arrest by constantly changing his locations and using sophisticated methods to avoid detection.
Fleeing from Aravalli to Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Banaskantha, and Mehsana, he stayed in various hotels and farmhouses while frequently purchasing new SIM cards to maintain contact with his associates and family.
