POLITICAL QUOTIENT | Thousands participate in all-party march; CM directs the CID to start confiscating properties of wanted accused
S Balakrishnan and Prajakta Pol

The murder of Beed sarpanch, Santosh Deshmukh, has taken a casteist turn since he was a Maratha and some of the accused persons belong to the Vanjari community, which is in the OBC category. Maratha leader Manoj Jarange-Patil and NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar have already called on the Deshmukh family.

Deputy CM and NCP leader Ajit Pawar has expelled the accused, Valmik Karad, from his party in a bid to distance his party from the brutal murder.

Deshmukh was kidnapped in a Scorpio and as many as 60 injuries were inflicted on him before his body was dumped on the road.
