In view of the recent boat tragedy in which 14 passengers were killed, the Mumbai police have banned all boat parties in Mumbai's coastal areas during New Year's Eve.

This decision was made during a meeting between senior police officials and representatives of the Bombay Port Trust (BPT) and Mumbai Port Trust (MPT).
