Cracking a whip on traffic violators on New Year's Eve, Pune Police have collected Rs 19.81 lakh from 2,633 cases, the Commissioner of Police's (CP) Office claimed.
According to data released by the Pune CP's Office, a total of 2,633 traffic violations were recorded on New Year's Eve and Jan 1, resulting in a fine collection of Rs19,81,450. The offences varied, with the highest number of violations reported for "causing obstruction to the free flow of traffic," amounting to 902 cases. Other significant violations included "no entry in oneway" with 632 incidents, "drunk and drive" with 85 cases, and "triple seat" offences with 176. There were also 49 instances of drivers using mobile phones while driving. Additionally, 23 individuals were penalized for not wearing helmets, while 23 others were caught without valid driving licences.
