More than a third of the daily supply of 3,950 million litres of water from the seven lakes to the city is lost to theft, leakages and pilferage (non-revenue water), according to data from the Hydraulic Engineering Department. The 34% daily water loss - 1,343 million litres - has exacerbated supply issues, despite the reservoirs having sufficient stock, officials said.
