7, including newly-wed, die in mishap

In a tragic accident in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, seven people, including a newlywed bride and groom, lost their lives early Friday morning while returning from Jharkhand after their marriage.

The incident occurred at 2 am on National Highway-74 near Dhampur.

The family, who had arrived by train at Moradabad station, was traveling to Dhampur in an auto-rickshaw when a car rammed into their vehicle from behind. The impact caused the auto to overturn and fall into a roadside ditch.

The groom's house was just five kilometers from the accident site. According to Bijnor Superintendent of Police Abhishek, the crash was likely caused by dense fog, which reduced visibility on the highway.

The groom's brother, recounting the sequence of events, revealed that the marriage had taken place on November 13. The family boarded a train on the evening of November 14 to return home, but a six-hour delay in the train's schedule forced them to travel late at night.
