The Pune Police have significantly enhanced security for the Ganeshotsav, deploying over 7,000 personnel to manage potential accidents and untoward incidents across the city.
With 3,789 pandals and over 6 lakh household Ganesh idols, the comprehensive security arrangements are extensive. The deployment includes four Additional Police Commissioners, 10 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP), 23 Assistant Police Officers, and 128 Police Inspectors (PI). Additionally, 568 Assistant Police Inspectors (API) and Police SubInspectors (PSI) will be on duty. The force is bolstered by 4,604 Constables,1,100 Home Guards, one SRPF Company, and 10 Quick Response Teams (QRT).
Throughout the festival, bomb disposal squads will inspect crowded locations, including the five 'Manache' Ganpati mandals, with checks conducted four times a day, assisted by trained dogs and police personnel.
Preventive actions have been taken against 1,742 individuals, and two internal tech interventions have been introduced, including a dedicated web page for citizen reporting. Orders related to pollution control and traffic management have also been issued.
