AP CM instructs officials to expedite Polavaram project

CM Chandrababu Naidu Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials to speed up Polavaram project works. He suggested Bauer & Company to finish the construction of the Polavaram diaphragm wall before March 2026 so that the overall project work could be expedited. Currently dewatering is being done in the dam area and works of the diaphragm wall is likely to finish by the end of 2025. The project was in the backburner during the past five years.

So far, the dam's spillway and associated canal systems are nearing operational readiness. However, resettlement of displaced families and environmental concerns remain significant hurdles.
