Speaking to the media at the Assembly's media point on Monday, the Minister highlighted the coalition government's commitment to health, with a significant allocation of Rs.18,421 Cr in the new budget, a 23% increase over the previous allocations.
The Minister accused the former YSRCP government of promising funds but failing to deliver. "They announced the establishment of 17 medical colleges, but allocated no funds in the budget to support these initiatives," Yadav said.
He further alleged that grants provided by the central government for medical college construction were misappropriated by the previous administration, which reportedly only spent Rs. 2,100 crore out of an announced requirement of Rs. 8,550 crore for the project.
According to the minister, the actual spending on these colleges was closer to Rs.1,400 crore, with Rs. 700 crore in unpaid liabilities now falling to the current government.
