Badlapur school trustees still missing

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday refused to grant anticipatory bail to two trustees, the chairman and secretary of a school in Badlapur, Maharashtra, in connection with the sexual assault of two minor girls.

The court also reprimanded the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the sexual assault of the minors on the school premises in Badlapur, for failing to apprehend two other trustees accused in the case. The court questioned how the police, who usually go to great lengths to apprehend suspects, were unable to trace the two trustees.

The trustees - the chairman and the secretary - have been charged by the police with failing to report incidents of sexual abuse and with negligence under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).
